Everything I Love About The Beach
I am a self-professed indoor girl. I would much rather stay inside than go for a hike or worse go camping. But there is one outdoor place where I would be happy to spend the rest of my days. The beach. When I say beach I mean salt water, warm breezes and sand in your toes (and nether regions). There is no other place where I feel more at home or at ease. So why? Why would an indoor girl love such a decidedly outdoor place?
Sun. Blame it on my no doubt dangerously low vitamin D levels, but I love the sun. There’s something about the way the sun’s rays make your skin tingle that just makes me oh so happy (sorry dermatologists). I know, I know it’s not the safest, but I am also very pro SPF, so it’s all good, right? For some reason I don’t get as sweaty on the beach, who knows why but somehow the heat seems just a bit drier and I can really catch those rays and to be honest there’s nothing better.
Saltiness. Ahh yes that salty sticky feeling of post ocean water bathing. Nothing compares to those beachy waves in your hair and the way you can barely get your denim shorts back on because they keep sticking to you in the least gross way possible. Plus, you’re basically pre-seasoned for more sun. Perfection? I’d say so.
Snacks. What is a day at the beach without a few snacks? Few things in life can’t be improved with a little bit of sustenance and eating on the beach feels oh so chic. Grapes are an ideal choice for the healthy ones among us, but if I’m being completely honest you need chips to take your beach experience to the next level. And don’t forget drinks, a little La Croix will set you up just right.
Sarongs. It’s no secret that I love clothes, and summer clothes are my favorite. From swimwear to beach cover-ups and uber chic towels, a day at the beach is nothing without the right look and the right accessories. I prefer a one-piece bathing suit and maybe something nice and oversized and linen as a cover-up? Add the perfect beach bag and a super soft towel and you're good to go, or should I say good to stay on the beach for hours upon hours?
